Can you ReL8 to this?
I love Michael Moore. I really appreciate his documentary style – getting the real messages across to us by contacting the REAL people that relate to the matter at hand. In his piece Fahrenheit 911, he really made it clear that as a culture, we are coerced into doing anything if we are driven by fear. Check out this clip.
Did you see how our then President? While in the midst of a golf game he takes the time to stop and warn us of our civic duties to confront terrorists. What a guy!
Anywho…remember when AIDS became an issue of concern? People were scared to touch, kiss or even LOOK at someone, fearing they would contract the virus. In recent news, the swine flu has scared the be-gsus out of people. If you cough, you must have it. The US Chamber of Commerce is known for their are attempts to frighten us regarding climate change legislation – making it too expensive to heat our home, power our lives and drive our cars. Now we have the health care reform issue, “No! Don’t change the broken system that only benefits those working behind it, if you do…your grandmother is going to die…” When will it end?
Unfortunately, we do gage our lives based upon fear theories. It’s the nature of where we live. Yes! Some of the information is valuable BUT the sensationalism and repetitive exposes are enough to make people sick to their stomachs. I would much rather be given a choice than to be lambasted by the worlds message of, “be afraid to live.” The Bible tells us that, “God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind,” 2 Timothy 1:7. There is no way to live in peace if we are constantly living in fear. I’m just saying…
