“I know her. I’m very proud of her,” Braithwaite told Rolling Stone. “She has her head on straight. I have to let her make her decisions, and I can only sit back and hope and pray for the best.”
The singer’s father, Ronald Fenty, has been vocal about his approval for a reconciliation between his daughter and Brown well before their most recent public appearances.
Rihanna, 24, covers the February issue of Rolling Stone and opened up about why she decided to give things another try with 23-year-old Brown.
“I wanted him to know what it felt like to lose me. To feel the consequences of that. But I got real with myself, and I just couldn’t bury the way I felt,” Rihanna told the publication. “I decided it was more important for me to be happy, and I wasn’t going to let anybody’s opinion get in the way of that.”
Still, the singer says that she is not afraid if her decision to reconcile with Brown turns out to be a mistake.
“Even if it’s a mistake, it’s my mistake,” Rihanna told the publication. “After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I’d rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it.”
