The religious-themed artwork features a portrait of Jesus with a teardrop tattoo under his eye, a Jesus piece chain around his neck, and red bandana over his mouth.

“You want to believe in God, but you don’t want to be criticized and ridiculed by people who think that they’re better than you,I don’t want to feel like I can’t love God or appreciate Jesus and have to put down that blunt.”Game told Rap-Up TV of the concept.

Jesus Piece, Game’s fifth and possibly final album for Interscope, is due in December featuring appearances from Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, and Kanye West, who is featured on the title track.

Dear Game,

I don’t want to criticize you because I am better than you. I want to correct you because you are misguided. Using the image that is considered sacred by many and applying gang overtones to it;  is not okay.

I understand what you are trying to get at. You are trying to say that Jesus was the first true rebel.  You felt the connection of being a prophet criticized and crucified.

#1 Jesus would never wear an icon of himself.

#2. Jesus would never wear a bandana that symbolizes masking one’s identity. Jesus was always very very clear about his identity and who he was and IS!

#3 The Sacred Heart is often depicted in Christian art as a flaming heart shining with divine light, pierced by the lance-wound, encircled by the crown of thorns, surmounted by a cross and bleeding. Sometimes the image shown shining within the bosom of Christ with his wounded hands pointing at the heart. The wounds and crown of thorns allude to the manner of Jesus’ death, while the fire represents the transformative power of divine love.

I am sure that in your creative mind set, you thought showing Jesus as a gangster would explore and encourage a divine love. I assure you it doesn’t. It shows  total lack and disregard for imagery that is held sacred in many homes. The prayer that accompanies  the image is: “O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee”. Did you really place your trust in him? If you did you would know that the trivializing of his heart is blasphemy. I can guess that the content on the new album is not one that will be edifying, but glorifying this world not the next.

Congratulations, we are talking about you. This won’t guarantee that anyone will care about the actual art form or the struggle you have been through. It just shows us that you want us to talk about you and create a buzz. Nicki Minaj showing up dressed as a nun and putting on that backwards exorcism during the Awards show earlier this year was exactly the same thing you are doing now.  It is all nonsense from people who don’t get it.
