Understanding  humanitarianism is a necessary quest to save our world.

Each day as we  hurl down long highways of super speed technology and a shrinking social world. All these things make us faster, smarter, but not, necessarily more connected to the needs of those less fortunate or struggling under circumstances far beyond their control.

When you look at definition of the word you become acutely aware of the responsibility we have to each other.

humanitarianism (verb)  1. Concern for human welfare, especially as manifested through philanthropy. 2. The belief that the sole moral obligation of humankind is the improvement of human welfare. 3. Theology The doctrine holding that Jesus was human only and not divine.

World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is celebrated internationally on 19 August to raise awareness of humanitarian work and the people who risk their lives to provide aid to people in need. This year’s campaign is about inspiring the spirit of aid work in everyone.  There are people who need you right in your own community.

How lonely, frightened and unloved are some in your community? Do you know someone who needs help? It does not need to be huge. It can be small. It can be as simple as talking to the person that you see everyday that looks down at the ground. Reach out!

Now is your chance.

This World Humanitarian Day,  We want to make a statement that can’t be ignored.

We want the world to say ‘I WAS HERE’, and on August 19th commit to doing something good, somewhere, for someone else.

From major international humanitarian operations to handing out food to the homeless, however big or small let’s show the world that we believe in helping others.

But for the world to take notice, we need to shout it loud, all at once. Join the UN, Beyoncé and global aid organizations in helping to reach 1 billion people, on 1 day, with 1 message by signing up to this Thunderclap.

On August 19th, we will flood the world with our message!
