Four Time Grammy award Winning Gospel Singer, Karen Clark-Sheard, of The Clark Sisters, and Gospel’s “New Leading Man” Earnest Pugh, will share the stage to host the 9th Annual National Gospel Dance Showcase, “Dance Saints, Dance! 2011”.
The event is on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 7:00pm at The Holy Ghost Headquarters located at 858 N. Broad Street (Broad and Poplar) in Philadelphia. Not only are Sheard and Pugh hosting the event but they’re both performing a few of their fan-favorite smash hits. There will also be a special performance from National Syndicated Radio Host and Recording Artist Lonnie Hunter featuring Structure.
Khalif M. Townes, President/CEO of Urban Roundup Group, LLC and Executive Producer of Dance Saints, Dance! will raise the bar in the Gospel Industry again by combining Gospel Music with dance artistry. Dance Saints, Dance! will be an evening of high-spirited foot stomping, and inspirational praise. The event will showcase talents of dance ministries from across the country. As a trained dance performer and enthusiast for gospel music, Mr. Townes envisions a platform to fuse gospel music with liturgical dance. Dance Saints, Dance! showcases the talents and creativity of individuals and group performers all under one roof.
“Within the sacred walls of many faith-based churches across denominational lines and throughout the world, on any given Sunday morning or week day service, one may find congregants lifting their voice in song and dancing. Giving praise to God for who He is and all that He has done in their lives,” says Townes. “This form of expression to show thankfulness, appreciation, love, and gratitude to our Creator is nothing new. Even in biblical times, people such as King David and others danced before the Lord because of His goodness and the loving, kindness that He continues to bestow upon mankind. And so, even now in this 21st century, we celebrate God’s faithfulness and love by assembling together and showcasing the talents he has given us.”
Last year, The 8th Annual Dance Saints, Dance! was featured in Sister 2 Sister Magazine. Gospel Recording Artist, Tye Tribbett and Actress/Singer, D’Atra Hicks from Tyler Perry’s play,” Madea’s Family Reunion” hosted the event. The show opened with Comedian and Co-Host of the Yolanda Adams Morning Show, Marcus D. Wiley, followed by “Gospel’s New Leading Man”, Earnest Pugh performing selections from his chart-topping album, “Rain On Us”.
Previous guests to grace the Dance Saints, Dance stage includes Gospel Recording Artist and Entrepreneur, Vickie Winans, Radio One Praise 103.9 Radio Personality and Gospel Artist, Lonnie Hunter, Radio One Praise 103.9 Radio Personality, CeCe McGhee, Kevin D’Voice, Jamal Coleman and Recording Artist/Actress, Taral Hicks.
