The 2011 Soul Train Award nominees have been announced. Congratulations to Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Trin-i-tee 5:7, James Fortune & FIYA, and CeCe Winans, who are all nominees in the category of “Best Gospel Performance”. Mary Mary also received a nomination in the category of “Best Dance Performance” for their track “Walking”. Other nominees in that category include Kelly Rowland, Rihanna, Beyonce, Chris Brown, and Keri Hilson. This year’s “Legends Award” will be presented to Earth Wind and Fire along with Gladys Knight. This marks the 40th anniversary of the awards show and will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and tapes in Atlanta on November 17, airing in simulcast on BET and Centric on November 27 at 9p ET/8p CT.

What I am saying is that music videos are an image-based medium and that any image-based medium should at least make Christians cautious in light of many warnings in the Bible about images. While images themselves aren’t necessarily sinful, images can (and often do) tempt the human heart to idolatry in a way that other things don’t.”
