Philippians 4:6-7 (New Living Translation)

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Do you want peace? True Peace? I don’t mean the kind that you get from a sleeping pill or from a good stiff drink. I mean the overwhelming sense of wholeness, well being, and an uncanny internal reassurance that your present circumstances (good or bad) do not define you, nor determine your future. Would you like to possess that kind of peace? Would you like to walk through life so assured of how well you are taken care of that you would chase down your noblest dreams with all the strength and energy you could muster? Would you like to be able to love with abandon, never fearing malice or injury because the One you love, never missteps?

You can have those things if you are willing to pray.

The scripture above is packed with Truth. Refuse to worry. Instead pour out your heart to God about whatever bothers you. Your relationships, finances, future, projects in the works, school, business, loneliness, are all things God wants to hear about from you. Yes, he already knows everything that is going on with you and in greater detail than you do. But he wants you to tell him.

A marvelous dynamic takes place when you pray. As you commune with the God of the universe, he meets you right where you are. In his presence is the peace and reassurance you crave. In fact, in his presence is the only way to get the very things that make you whole. He alone knows what you lack, where you are weak, how much you hunger. He wants to fill your void with himself. He designed you for relationship with himself. He wants to meet your needs. But he will never force you. In fact, he will wait for you your entire life.

But it needn’t take that long. If you are willing, humble yourself right now, tell God about your fears, worries, concerns. Pour out your soul to him. Take time to remember all that he has done for you, then thank him. He will listen. Invite him into your circumstances. Then let him be God of that area, too. The more of your life you give over to him, the more you will experience his peace.

Be blessed, Family!
