Our faith is a gift from a living and loving God who lavishly tries to reach us and does so with persistent fidelity. It is a celebration of a God of love who tries all kinds of ways to touch us.
Faith is not that kind of an irrational thing at all. Sometimes as we meet the beginning of the week we need to believe and start over.
Prayer For Faith
Lord, let my faith be full and unreserved,
and let it penetrate my thought,
my way of judging Divine things and human things.
Lord, let my faith be joyful
and give peace and gladness to my spirit,
and dispose it for prayer with God
and conversation with men,
so that the inner bliss of its fortunate possession
may shine forth in sacred and secular conversation.
Lord, let my faith be humble and not presume
to be based on the experience of my thought and of my
feeling; but let it surrender to the testimony of the Holy Spirit,
and not have any better guarantee than in docility to Tradition.
Faith, in fact, is something that you and I exercise every day in our lives. And we’ve exercised it from the very moment we were born. I suppose it’s true that your mother even encouraged you to feel that we could trust her when we lay in her arms. And we learned day by day that was true, she would not drop us, that she was reliable, and we could put our faith in her arms.
