It’s refreshing to see our favorite celebrities take time to help spread the word and raise awareness about matters that are important to our community.  We all have busy schedules but service to others and being self-less really makes a difference and enriches our lives.

Grammy award winner and host of her own morning show, Yolanda Adams recently stopped in Newark, New Jersey at the Willing Heart Community Care Center while on her annual Believe in Healthy BP tour.

Mayor Cory Booker also passed through and presented her with a proclamation to the city.

The Believe In Healthy BP Tour is a campaign to raise awareness about the serious health epidemic contributing to the loss of thousands of African-American lives each year to high blood pressure.  Also known as hypertension, this condition affects over 75 million adults in the U.S.  An estimated 40% of African-American adults have high blood pressure.  Elev8 had the pleasure to chat with the beautiful Ms. Adams to know more about the tour, upcoming projects and get a few secrets on how she keeps her self together.

How did you get involved with the Believe In Healthy BP campaign?

What’s your connection to high blood pressure? and While on the “Believe in Healthy BP” tour, what have been the most memorable moments?

The tour is  sponsored by Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
