Davis was approved as Long’s successor by the New Birth board during a succession plan that was drafted in 2013. He and his wife Darlene pastor a 2,300-member church, formerly known as the Refiner’s House.
“My wife, Darlene and I, are blessed beyond measure and thoroughly thrilled to serve New Birth Lithonia, building on the foundation that Bishop Long established for this amazing ministry,” Davis said in a statement released by the church.
Long passed away from an aggressive form of cancer at the age 63.
