Dr. Robert A. Copeland, Jr. specializes in ophthalmology, corneal and external diseases, and uveitis. He is a professor and the chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology in the Howard University College of Medicine at Howard University Hospital, where he also serves as section chair for the Advisory Board of International Healthcare Services. He is currently developing a telemedicine program to help diagnose and treat eye diseases and disorders, as well as a continuing education program for physicians.
He is an active participant in national and international glaucoma awareness and screening programs and lends his expertise to various eye organizations by serving on boards for the Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington, the Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the National Eye Health Education Program at the National Eye Institute. Dr. Copeland is also a moderator of the National Medical Association Ophthalmology Corneal and External Disease Section and a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
