If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.-Isaiah 58:10
That is what one man is doing and his light is rising in the desperation of darkness. We all saw the heartbreaking picture of the toddler face down on the shore with other dead refugees. It made us feel helpless. It has caused the world to think about the answer to the growing problem. One man answered the call with a tweet.
The good Samaritan tweeted:
Greece or Italy sell me an island.
Coptic Christian billionaire businessman Naguib Sawiris is that good Samaritan and he’s seeking to buy an island from either Greece or Turkey to help thousands of refugees fleeing the Middle East. Sawiris said he’ll name the island after Aylan Kurdi, the 3-year-old Syrian boy whose picture lying face-down on a beach was shared around the world.
‘It was a very touching picture. In addition to that, the way these pictures were coming out of Hungary, the way these refugees were being treated by the authorities there, and being, you know, beaten and put into the trains and buses, I mean it was just too much.’
He told CNN that there dozens of islands that he can purchase and that this is a very simple answer to the refugee crisis.
