Jacksonville Jaguar Sen’Derrick Marks scored big last weekend when he escorted Khameyea Jennings, who is battling cancer, to her senior prom, according to ABC News.
Khameyea, 18, who has been fighting cancer for two years, made the wish through Dreams Come True, a local nonprofit group that helped set up the date, notes the report.
Members of the nonprofit reached out to Marks after learning that the senior at Jacksonville’s Franklin H. Peterson High School did not have a prom date. Marks, 28, a defensive tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars, in turn asked the teen, who said “yes,” ABC says.
The Huffington Post reports:
On Saturday evening, Marks—bearing gifts for the teen, including a beautiful tiara—met her at her home. Together, they rode to prom in his Lamborghini.
“All I want to do is make sure she continues to smile and make sure she has a good time tonight,” Marks told WJAX-TV…
“She said this is a day to be normal, not to have to worry about needles, chemo, potassium levels,” the teen’s mom told the Florida Times-Union, “Just a day to be a teenager and enjoy the prom.”
NewsOne sends out a special thanks to Marks for helping to create a special memory for Khameyea, who looked divine.
