Mike Stahl is a Senior Vice President at Health Markets. What is that, you ask? It’s a national health insurance marketplace with access to over 140 different insurance companies, thousands of health plans and the ability to obtain the government subsidies people deserve. Health Markets can help find individuals and families affordable, low-cost health insurance. The Health Markets service is at no cost.
Open Enrollment for Obamacare is here, what do people need to do?
If you signed up last year, you need to re-enroll in your plan to get the right subsidy for 2015. Many people don’t realize that if you don’t re-enroll for 2015, you risk having the wrong subsidy or losing your subsidy entirely. Health Markets has set up a Free Re-Enrollment Service that anyone can use just by calling us.
What about people who didn’t sign up last year, what should they know?
It could be expensive not to enroll. The tax penalty for not having health insurance doubles this year. It’s not worth going uninsured and paying 2% of your income in extra taxes. Government subsidies cover on average 76% of the cost of insurance, so getting coverage has never been more affordable.
For those who already have a plan, should they consider shopping for a different plan or stick with the one they have?
