Venezuelan television host Gabriela Isler was crowned Miss Universe 2013 on Saturday. Isler is Venezuela’s seventh winner in the competition.
Gabriela, whose full name is Maria Gabriela de Jesus Isler Morales (talk about a mouthful!) beat out 86 other contestants at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall. Miss Universe 2012, American-born Olivia Culpo, crowned Isler at the end of the telecast. The 62nd Miss Universe competition was reportedly viewed by 1 billion people from 190 countries.
Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro tweeted Isler a congratulatory message shortly after winning, calling her victory a “triumph”.
Isler’s first “duty” if one could even refer to it as such was to model a ruby and diamond encrusted bathing suit worth an estimated $1 million. Not a bad day at the office, if you ask us.
