Hi, I am Alexis Spight and I did it.
My birthday was July 3rd of this month.
I finally broke in my twenties (big smile). This one was special for me… and for the sake of significance, maybe more special than twenty-one will be.
My great-grandmother, my grandmother, and my mother, all had children at my age.
On July 3rd, 2013 I broke the cycle. No babies. I practice not doing what it takes to make them.
I’m not perfect! And everyday is a challenge! But knowing the risks of my actions, self discipline, and God’s aid…I pray to hold out! (Chuckles).
We as believers have to remember that we are partial masters of our own fate; God gives us the ability to make choices.
He knows what is right and what is wrong, but He did not make us as robots, therefore enabling us to decide which decisions to make. Read Mark’s account of Jesus being tempted by the Devil in the dessert in Matthew chapter 4; Jesus is tempted on three different accounts by the enemy. This includes eating while fasting, throwing himself down, trying to kill himself to “prove” God, and offering him the world in exchange of bowing down to him. Jesus had the choice to do all of these… But He did not. He proved James 4:7-King James 2000 Bible (©2003)
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
It’s proven several times throughout the word, that God gives us the ability to choose. Take Joshua 24:15 for example. God even gives us choice in worship:“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
One thing I’ve come to realize is that you cannot control the actions of others… but you can control your own. There are loads you can accomplish when you utilize the ability to choose.
