Essence AtkinsEssence Atkins is a take action woman. She says what she means and mean what she says. This week she took time out of her busy schedule  to talk about find her husband, finding him and married  life.

E8: You met your husband on match.com. That had to be interesting.

Essence Atkins: I put myself in the frame of mind where I wasn’t going to waste any more time. I met my husband at 36; a lot of people have questioned it like, “she’s so desperate.” I didn’t want to waste any more time. After 35, I felt like I’d been in these relationships, some were great, some weren’t so great, but they weren’t right partnerships. So I did this inventory, I’m not going to just settle for anyone, and at this point I don’t have anymore time to waste if I wanted to have children.

E8: Was it just part of your self evaluation or how did you come to know?

Essence Atkins: I knew I only wanted to do it once. My husband’s parents have been married a long time.  I wanted a life partner. In order to do that you have to really be realistic about what it you want. I knew I didn’t want someone who smoked.  I didn’t want someone who was out drinking all the time. It was a very calculated move. I was serious about it. My husband and I are down for it. We are in it. The long haul and everything.
