Interracial or mixed-race couples in advertisements and commercials have always raised a few eyebrows — yes, even in 2013. The now-infamous Cheerios commercial that featured an interracial couple and their mixed-race daughter sparked discussions about people, acceptance, and of course bigotry. While the commercial opened up a heavy topic, the positive reaction to it also may have led marketing executives to take notice and jump on the bandwagon.

We’ve certainly noticed an uptick in commercials and ads featuring interracial couples since the Cheerios commercial went live. Here is a list of ads and commercials that we hope will lessen the controversy sparked by interracial couples in advertising. The more we see it, the more it will become “normal.”
